How do I sign up to be part of the YMG?

All eligible young reconstructive surgeons comprise the YMG. So if you are a reconstructive surgeon, have been in practice for less than eight years, YOU are a part of the YMG.

All reconstructive surgeons who are candidate or full members who have been in practice for fewer than eight years are considered eligible. If you are interested in joining the YMG and meet the qualifications, email the Central Office at contact@microsurg.org to join.

What is the difference between the YMG Steering Committee and the YMG?

The YMG Steering Committee is composed of members of the YMG who have volunteered to take on the organizational and leadership roles in the organization. It is an official committee to which you must be appointed by the regular ASRM committee selection process.
The YMG Steering Committee works to bring information on ASRM to residents, fellows and young reconstructive surgeons and encourage their professional development through membership in ASRM.

What if I am not on the YMG Steering Committee? How do I become involved?

You don't need to be on the Steering Committee to be involved in the ASRM YMG.
Getting involved is easy - just contact any member of the YMG Steering Committee.  Another way is to show up at the YMG reception at the Annual Meeting. Make sure to introduce yourself to one of us and let us know you are interested in serving.. There is always work to be done and volunteers are always welcome.
If you are interested in one of the other ASRM Committees:
  • Express interest in the committee you desire
  • Attend the business meeting
  • Obtain a nomination for the committee position.
