MEDICAL STUDENT ANNUAL MEETING SCHOLARSHIP
The American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery is committed to investing in the future of microsurgery. Therefore, this year the ASRM is implementing a scholarship program to assist medical students that want to attend the annual meeting. This scholarship covers the costs associated with meeting registration and 3 night’s hotel lodging at the host hotel. Travel and additional expenses are the responsibility of the student or institution. Applications are due November 5, 2009.
INTERNATIONAL HARDSHIP SCHOLARSHP
The American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery is continually aware of the financial hardship that has affected several surgeons in underdeveloped countries and believes that it is part of their obligation to microneurovascular surgery to not make it prohibitive for these individual’s to continue their education in this ever growing specialty. This initiative is important in our world society and global health. The ASRM is offering a scholarship opportunity to surgeons from underdeveloped countries that are experiencing financial hardship. The scholarship covers the registration fee for attendance to the annual meeting and to the events included in the standard registration fee. It will be up to the recipient to cover the additional expenses including transportation and lodging. Applications are due November 5, 2009.

TRANSPORTATION:
The Boca Raton Resort and Club does not offer a shuttle to and from the resort and airport, so please plan ahead. Many national car rental companies and taxi services operate at the airport, or you can rent a car at the Boca Raton Resort and Club by contacting the resort’s Hertz car rental desk at 561-447-3000.
Current ground transportation fares are:
- FLL and PBI: Taxi: $60 - $70 + tip each way
- FLL and PBI: Private sedan service arranged through the resort: $96.60 inclusive of gratuity each way
- MIA: Taxi: $120 + tip each way
- MIA: Private sedan service arranged through the resort: $140.00 inclusive of gratuity each way

Airports and Airline Discounts
Three airports serve the Boca Raton Resort area. The most convenient is the Fort Lauderdale International Airport (FLL), located approximately 24 miles (30 minutes) from the resort. Other airports are Miami International Airport (MIA), located approximately 49 miles (60 minutes) from the resort, and The Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) located approximately 27 miles (40 minutes) from the resort.
